Dr Matt Orr

Meet Dr Matthew Orr

Founder & Clinical Lead, Orr Medical

I am the Founder and Clinical Lead of Orr Medical, with over 20 years’ experience working as a General Practitioner and specialist medical adviser.

I completed a Bachelor of Science in Medical Science at the University of St Andrews in 1997 before going on to qualify in Medicine at the University of Manchester in 2000. I became a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2004 and have worked continuously as a GP since that time.

Since 2007, I have specialised as a medical adviser in fostering and adoption. Over the years, I have worked extensively with local authorities, regional adoption agencies and independent fostering agencies across the UK, providing medical assessments and quality assurance for reports that support panel decision-making.

At Orr Medical, I oversee all clinical standards and quality assurance processes. My focus is on ensuring that every report is clear, structured and clinically robust, so that agencies can make informed decisions without delay or uncertainty.

Under my clinical leadership, Orr Medical has completed over 11,000 medical reports and now supports more than 50 agencies across England and Wales.

I also lead the delivery of childminder medical assessments as part of our contract with Ofsted, ensuring the same high standards are applied consistently across all areas of our work.

My Approach

My approach has always been to provide clear, practical medical advice that can be understood by non-medical professionals. Medical reports should not create ambiguity or delay. They should support confident, well-informed decisions.

By focusing on clarity, consistency and clinical accuracy, I aim to ensure that every assessment contributes positively to the placement process and ultimately supports better outcomes for children.
